Who could have imagined it? In 2008 (or was it 2007?) my GLPI journey begun, with urgent needs to cover and curious about its potential. Fast forward to today, and here I am in magnificent Paris, exchanging ideas and stories with the very people who are shaping the future of the platform—a platform that became the cradle for TICGAL. Let me take you through my personal experience of this incredible event.
The inaugural GLPI Partner’s Day on October 27, 2023, was a landmark event for Teclib and its partners. And, of course, TICGAL was there. By the way, thank you for inviting us!
Over 60 delegates from 18 countries came together to celebrate GLPI’s 20th birthday, demonstrating the robust and diverse fabric of our professionally supported open-source community.
Set aboard the River Palace and with Paris unfolding around us; the afternoon commenced with a warm reception and a compelling opening address by Teclib’s CEO, Pascal Aubry. His words painted a vision of unity and growth within the open-source domain, perfectly setting the stage for the event.
The heartbeat of the event was undoubtedly the Teclib’s team, custodians of the most installed ITSM tool. Loïc, Polina, Anna, and Samra led sessions partners directed sessions. A sprinkle of Success Stories paved the way for what, to me, was the highlight: GLPI Product Owner Alexandre Delauney’s strategic insight into GLPI’s development roadmap, both long and short-term. The Q&A that followed? Pure gold. We threw out question after question, and all met with Alexandre’s patient and knowledgeable answers, lighting the way through our curiosity.
And guess who popped the big question – when can we expect the next major GLPI release? 😉
More things to remember. A memorable photo capturing the spirit of the other partners from Spain, Inforges and the Abast. None of us were ‘thrown out of the boat,’ literally and metaphorically!
Among the day’s structured events, one highlight truly stood out: the chance to meet face-to-face with folks I’ve known through emails, videos, forums, social media, or Telegram channels, some for many years. Transforming virtual handshakes into real ones and digital smiles into shared laughter was special. It drove home the point that there’s a real person with their own unique story behind every avatar and username, with shared goals, each one contributing to the rich tapestry of the GLPI community.
And it was a whole world in one room – Colombia, Brazil, Poland, Croatia, Slovakia, Italy, Canada… and, naturally, France. Am I chatting live with this crowd? Electric. I’ve got to give a shoutout to Danilo and Jorge from ServiceDesk Brasil, Vangelles and Halexsandro at Verdanatech, Cyrille over at Synergis, Miroslav from Omnicom, Mirko from Würth Phoenix, Vedran and Domagoj keeping things sharp at King ICT, and the brains at ITSM Factory. Not to forget Carlos and the crew from Imagunet and Davide from Initiativa. And hey, if I’ve skipped anyone, let’s say the wine’s to blame.
A final word on the people who help TICGAL directly. A nod to Christian, stepping into his role as our recent Channel Manager, to Anna, former one and, again, Polina, especially for backing me up on our last GLPI webinar. Let’s not forget Pierre, Adrien, and the whole Teclib’ Support Team – you guys rock at tackling our ever-tough questions 😉
As the Tour Eiffel stood sentinel, our glasses shone as brightly as the lights of Paris itself. At that moment, the path ahead was crystal clear: our journey with GLPI is far from over. With every new face I met, and every story shared, the immense value of this gathering is reaffirmed—hopefully a precursor to the following Partners Day, now just a few days less distant.
