Passwords Plugin for GLPI v1.11 update: Mandatory browser cache clearing
The issue
We have recently updated the Passwords Plugin for GLPI to fix an issue that could cause errors when saving new passwords, particularly those containing special characters.
To ensure the system works perfectly, you must take a straightforward step in your web browser.
Due to a necessary update, your browser may retain outdated information (cache). If the cache is not cleared, new or edited passwords might be saved incorrectly or appear unreadable.
How do you avoid it?
A warning will appear when you access the new or edit password dialogue.

Required Action:
Clear your browser’s cache and browsing data immediately after the GLPI update.
Quick Guide: How to Clear Cache
Follow these steps based on your browser. Make sure you select the options to clear the cache and data (cookies) for “All time” or “Since the beginning.”
| Browser | Quick Keys (Windows/Linux) | Where to Find the Option (General) | Key Options to Select |
| Chrome | Ctrl + Shift + Del | Settings -> Privacy and security -> Clear browsing data | Cached images and files, Cookies and other site data |
| Firefox | Ctrl + Shift + Del | Menu (☰) -> Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Clear Data | Cookies and Site Data, Cached Web Content |
| Edge | Ctrl + Shift + Del | Settings (⋯) -> Privacy, search, and services -> Clear browsing data | Cached images and files, Cookies and other site data |
| Safari (macOS) | Cmd + Option + E | Safari -> Settings -> Privacy -> Manage Website Data… | Website data and Cache |
Final Steps & Important Notes
Once you have cleared your browser’s cache (as previously instructed):
- Confirm the Action: When opening the password creation or editing screen in GLPI, explicitly confirm that you have cleared the cache when prompted by the warning.
- Warning Dismissal: This confirmation dismisses the warning message and ensures the plugin saves all your new and edited passwords correctly.
Important Reminder
- Only for Upgrades: This procedure is only necessary if your Passwords for GLPI were updated from a version older than 1.11.
- No Action Needed: If you are already using version 1.11 or newer, you do not need to take any action.
- Action is Mandatory: Dismissing the on-screen warning without first clearing your browser cache will not resolve the issue. The fix requires clearing your browser’s stored memory.
