GLPI 10 is dead, long live GLPI 12
“Say goodbye on a night like this…” as The Cure famously sang. Every new post will have a music reference? Who knows!. Anyway, after four and a half years of dependable service since its launch in April 2022, GLPI 10 is reaching its official End of Life (EOL). So, in fact, it should really just be Long live GLPI!, because GLPI 12 itself will reach its End of Life in 2 years, living on in a bit of a zombie state (and yes, I know a song about that too! :P) for one more. We’ll break down how that works in a moment.
GLPI’s new lifecycle is built for speed, delivering security fixes, performance enhancements, and new features faster, which also means major versions cross the finish line much sooner. To keep your IT service management environment secure, and fully supported, all GLPI 10 instances need to start their journey to a newer release.

As you can see, we’ll have a new major release every October with 18 months of bugfixes and security support, plus 6 months of security-only patches. After two years, maintaining an old version requires an optional paid extension, which, in my humble opinion, is an option best avoided!
Critical dates & key milestones
| Date | Milestone & Impact |
| September 30, 2026 (Today) | GLPI 10.0.28 Released: The final public maintenance update for the 10.x branch, released alongside GLPI 11.0.10. |
| October 7, 2026 | GLPI 12.0 General Availability & GLPI 10 EOL: Official end of public community support and maintenance for GLPI 10. |
| December 31, 2026 | GLPI Network Extended Order Deadline: The final date to request extended support coverage through your Channel Manager. |
What it means to you?
Given the significant volume of security patches shipped across recent releases, running an unpatched or unsupported service desk platform creates serious security exposures for your infrastructure and operational compliance.
Step 1: Upgrade to GLPI 10.0.28
Updating your current instance to GLPI 10.0.28 is required right away. As the final public release of the 10 branch, it contains crucial security updates and serves as the official, stable baseline for all upcoming migrations.
Step 2: Schedule your version upgrade
Plan your migration timeline over the coming weeks using one of two target paths:
- GLPI 11 (Minimum Target): The minimum baseline required to maintain standard product support and ongoing security updates.
- GLPI 12 (Recommended Target): If your installed plugins are fully compatible with GLPI 12, migrating directly to GLPI 12 is highly recommended. Skip-leveling to version 12 saves your team from having to execute a second migration once GLPI 11 eventually exits its support window following future major releases.
Need more time? GLPI Network Extended
If technical constraints or plugin dependencies prevent your team from completing a migration before October 7, GLPI Network Extended provides a temporary bridge to maintain security while you execute your upgrade plan. While our primary goal is getting every client onto GLPI 11 or 12, we recognize that complex environments may require this temporary safety net.
Program eligibility & rules
- Subscription Prerequisite: Extended coverage is strictly reserved for active GLPI Network clients (Basic, Standard, or Advanced tier). Community users relying on open-source support are ineligible and must migrate to a supported release.
- Ordering window: Orders must be placed by December 31, 2026. The offer will be discontinued after this date.
- Coverage & pricing: Extended coverage offers up to 12 months of protection. Coverage terminates early if your GLPI Network subscription expires or if GLPI 10 reaches $N-3$ status upon a subsequent major release. Pricing remains fixed regardless of actual coverage duration used, so subscription renewal dates should be reviewed prior to ordering.
- Scope of support: Includes unlimited critical bug and security fixes delivered directly via patches or code commits on a dedicated maintenance branch. It does not include new feature developments, functional changes, or public version releases.
- Plugin support: Essential plugins are covered within the boundaries of your active GLPI Network subscription tier, provided compatibility exists.
- Mandatory migration plan: Extended support is designed solely as a safety net. An agreed-upon, actionable migration plan must be established at the time of purchase.
Wrapping up
You are into one of these three scenarios:
- Have you migrated to GLPI 11? Keep Calm, and Carry On 😉
- Do you think you can upgrade in October? Plan and upgrade. If you are one of our clients and you haven’t, please open a ticket (you already know where).
- Not possible to upgrade so soon? Either you assume the risk (not sure if it’s a good idea), or you ask us for a GLPI Network Extended.
Hopefully, this gives you a clear picture of what’s ahead so we can start planning your upgrade today!
