Gapp 3 Beta is out (Finally!)
The wait is nearly over. We are thrilled to announce that the Gapp 3 Beta and Gapp Essentials GLPI 11 plugin are officially open for testing!
Why did it take a while to release?
Life at Gapp has been… intense. Between adapting to the new GLPI 11 HLAPI and managing a rapidly growing company, our team has been moving mountains of new development.
Maintaining over 100 plugins is a huge effort that requires constant attention. However, the biggest factor was the Jewel in the Crown: Gapp White Label. We realised it didn’t make sense to release the Self-Service version without its big brother being ready, too. They are two sides of the same coin, and we wanted to ensure the foundation was rock-solid for both.
There was also a lot of internal debate about which features to migrate, whether it made sense to do so, and other complex variables that had nothing to do with the code itself. Maybe one day I’ll be able to share those stories, but for now, I’ll leave you with a bit of mystery.
What’s new
The good news
-
- We haven’t made any major updates to the interface, so your experience will be exactly the same.
- Gapp 3 is backwards compatible. So GLPI 10 & 11 will be supported. Just need to enable the new GLPI 11 slider to enable GLPI 11 support. Find it under Settings.

The not-so-good news
-
- The Self-Service paradox: Self-Service users cannot create tickets. The reason is the amazing self-service catalogue feature on GLPI 11. There is no simple form anymore. Developing this feature will require more effort than is reasonable for us.
- Some other new features might not be supported. New satisfaction options, or validation templates, became a huge issue for us.
Known issues & behaviours
Since this is a beta, there are a few technical quirks you should know before diving in:
-
- Docker issues: Gapp Essentials is currently a bit picky about its environment. We’ve found that it may struggle with the official Teclib’ Docker image. For the smoothest experience during this beta, we highly recommend using the Dioux image. The marketplace folder should be safe, but apparently not always on GLPi 11.
How to Get Started
If you’re ready to help us iron out the bugs, follow these steps:
-
- Ensure you are using a compatible environment
- Download the beta plugin, manually or from the marketplace.
- Drop it into your glpi /
marketplacefolder. - Break things. Seriously. The more feedback you give us on crashes or UI glitches, the better the final version will be.
Roadmap draft
-
- Currently: Gapp White Label 3 is running beta with one new client.
- In a week: To be expanded to our bravest clients
- In two weeks: Gapp 3 & Gapp Essentials 3 final
- In three weeks: Gapp White Label announcement (maybe earlier)

We want your feedback!
