We’ve just switched our premises (more on that in a future post). Still, first things first, finally—Yikes—we are excited to announce the release of Gapp 2.7, bringing new features designed to deepen the integration with our beloved GLPI. As we continue to develop Gapp, we focus on expanding the platform’s capabilities, ensuring it supports even more of the robust features that GLPI offers—and expanding beyond.
But you’re not here to read some AI-generated content. So, let’s get straight to the point.
What’s New in Gapp 2.7?
Let’s split the Self-Service and White Label features so you know exactly what to expect, depending on your Flavor.
Gapp Self-Service
Exciting new features in our free GLPI mobile solution
Changelog
Funny enough, writing this post delays the release of a new version. And you know, it shouldn’t be that way. This is why we have added a Pop-up Changelog so that you can check the latest features or essential bug fixes in every new version, even on the minor ones. No, I won’t make a new post for each minor.
Add Observers to Tickets and Changes
It might seem like a minor feature, but as tech, sometimes you need to add a new observer, so it’s convenient. Now it’s possible.
Share
Sharing is caring, isn’t it? A new option is shown to communicate the ticket or change number to a third party.
Saving the best for last: Gapp White Label new features
As you already know, all Gapp Self-Service features are included in the White Label edition, but sponsoring development brings some exciting perks.
Native GLPI features that are now ported to Gapp
GLPI – Dashboards
Yes! It might be straightforward, but believe it or not, it was a hard one. The same dashboards you have on your GLPI are precisely available on your phone. This is a cool one!
Due to the limited viewport size, we took some shortcuts to release this first version of a most expected feature:
- All widgets are shown one below the other
- Some widgets are not supported (i.e. tables)
- There’s no filtering (yet)
- They are not clickable searches (yet)
Most probably, these additional features will need additional sponsoring.
SSO – OpenID
Precisely what you need—no more, no less. We now support additional providers beyond Google and Microsoft 365 for OAuth2 and SAML-based single sign-on (SSO), including OpenID.
Plugins – News – Alerts
A classic plugin by Teclib’ now not only notifies users in GLPI but also directly within Gapp.
Plugins – Asset Handover + Gapp Sign
Have you heard about Asset Handover, our famous Asset Management tool? If not, click on the link.
Did you notice? Our never-stopping thinking machine (aka brain 😉 ) led us to think about how we could improve the user experience (in fact, the tech experience) when handing over assets. A signature solution would be a nice one. And here you have it. We are pleased to introduce Gapp Sign, a signature module for GLPI that will increase tech performance and the end-user’s Asset Life Cycle experience.
Now that you know it, what do you think about handling requests for asset handover and return from your smartphone? It’s convenient, at the least.
Passwords
You know, sometimes we get calls from leads and clients regarding what we have developed for GLPI. The answer is hundreds of features! So, I turned it back by saying:
Let us know what you need, and if we have it, you’ll get it right away. If not, we can develop a solution for you.
After a long brainstorming session and endless discussions, we thought Passwords was an excellent name for a plugin handling… drum roll… passwords! 🙂
- So, a password manager for GLPI, hum? Is it a good idea? I don’t know.
- Is it practical and very customisable? Yes, it is. I don’t want to take any.
- Can you handle visibility by entity, group, or user, combining five access levels and password types? Sure, how did you know? 😉
- Can you check the passwords from a ticket? That’s a good question. If an asset is linked to a ticket, the password tab will show precisely the passwords related to the asset you can access.
- Do you allow private passwords? Yep, it was the fifth level added after a while
- Can you export all the passwords accessed by a tech to know what to reset in case you need them? Absolutely
- Are there any other features? Sure, but enough for today 🙂
For a field tech, accessing passwords on the move is vital. Till we got there, we tried to add another security layer to the password access. This is it on 2.7. 2FA to access passwords on GLPI.
UXÍA!
Are you looking for an AI Chatbot for both GLPI and your phone? You’ve asked, and now it’s here! With the latest integration of our AI chatbot solution, enjoy the same seamless experience across GLPI, Web, Telegram, MS Teams, WhatsApp, and Gapp.
Too new for a manual, stay tuned!
Why are some features available in the User Manuals that I cannot find?
Well, we continuously develop and release new versions, though not publicly available; the brave ones and the newly acquired White Label versions enjoy the Canary Releases, so once we consider a feature ready, it’s added.
As you can imagine, a Canary Release is not precisely for the faint of heart. However, since both Google Play—and especially the Apple Store—take longer than we’d like for approval, there’s plenty of time to conduct this testing and help us support a broader range of heterogeneous GLPI environments.
Find the Gapp Self-Service and the Gapp White Label manuals on their links.
And that’s all, folks.
Short and sweet: We’re currently working on version 2.8, which focuses on refinements to improve usability, though it may introduce new exciting features. Thanks for your support!
