API Breaking Changes on GLPI 10.0.25 and GLPI 11.0.7: Does it affect Gapp?
The short answer is yes, but we have you covered.
With the recent release of GLPI 10.0.25 and GLPI 11.0.7, the Teclib’ team introduced significant internal changes to the authentication system and API encoding. While these updates improve the security and performance of the GLPI platform, they unfortunately broke connectivity for previous versions of the Gapp ecosystem and several other integrations.
What happened
Modifications to GLPI’s session handling and authentication requests completely blocked the login flow and Single Sign-On (SSO) access. Additionally, this had a collateral impact on the algorithm that processes attachments and images, as well as viewing permissions. Consequently, the app could no longer “talk” to the server, resulting in global login failures and severe data synchronisation issues. This was a major technical hurdle that required an extensive, deep-level overhaul.
What we did
To fix this and get everything running smoothly again, the team rolled up their sleeves and did some serious heavy lifting under the hood:
- Rewrote the Login Flow: We completely rebuilt how the app handles authentication tokens for standard user/password logins. We also redid the whole setup for both SAML and OAuth2 SSO, don’t worry, it’s fully backwards-compatible.
- Fixed Images & Documents: We overhauled the algorithm for grabbing thumbnails and viewing files through specific endpoints. It now strictly checks permissions and, best of all, is fully compatible with self-service profiles (something that didn’t work before!).
- Synced the App: We tuned the self-service mobile app to work seamlessly with the new Gapp Essentials plugin.
The Fix: New versions are now available
We have been working hard to adapt our tools to these breaking changes. To restore full functionality and ensure a smooth experience, you must update both your GLPI plugins and the mobile application.
Backend Updates (Plugins)
We have released specific versions of Gapp Essentials to match your GLPI branch:
- Gapp Essentials 2.5.0: For those running GLPI 10.0.25 and above.
- Gapp Essentials 3.2.0: For those who have made the leap to GLPI 11.0.7 and above.
Frontend Update (the App)
- Gapp Self-Service 3.0.1: The mobile app has been updated to version 3.0.1. This version includes the necessary logic to handle the new authentication requirements for both GLPI 10 and 11.
What about my Gapp White Label?
Rest assured, we’ve got you covered across our entire lineup. Our commitment to stability and rapid support extends to:
